I was always interested in how DJs would mix music on the radio when I was a kid. I remember the first time I was standing in front of turntables I was in awe. I had a set up in my room in Brooklyn when I was 10 years old. I was always practicing and buying records at various record stores in Brooklyn and NYC. I started doing small events at friend's houses and eventually led up to starting Metro Sounds and being what it is today. As a small business, it allows me to connect with brides, grooms and clients on a more intimate level. Whether it's sound or Photo Booth related and everything in between, I make sure quality is there for every event.
One of my favorite wedding memories was when a bride heard of me and wanted me to DJ her wedding in Rhode Island. It was a nice compliment and to top it off it was an amazing wedding. They offered for me to stay over and join all of the post wedding festivities. Going to Mexico to DJ a friend's wedding might top this.
I love mixing up different genres and making "left turns" to keep the dance floor moving. I don't like a boring dance floor. I'm not afraid to mix Pitbull's Give Me Everything with Aretha's Respect.
I started the company in 2000. I was doing events but not to the capacity that I wanted. So I would do events for other friends who had bigger names in the industry. I ended up putting Metro Sounds on the back burner. The good thing about that it gave me the opportunity to see and learn what they do and what not to do. This led me to realize that Metro Sounds could be what it is today. There is always room for improvement and always learning.
I get asked how I mix music. My answer is I always read the crowd and I let them decide what's next from their reaction. I sometimes will play a piece of a song or I'll let it ride for a bit and get into the next song at the right time.
I am all about my business 100%. I guess my hobby would be to find the next best thing and work on that.

I used metro sounds for my photobooth for my wedding and spoke with Koz. Koz made the booking process so easy and was great with communicating. I told him my theme and he created our customized strips for the day of which I loved. Everyone had so much fun with the booth and the props!
