Introduction

Hi, my name is Ken.

I’ve been a wedding photographer/videographer since 2009. I live in Medford with my husband and my dog. When I'm not out capturing weddings, I'm either playing guitar at home or watching movies.

The very first wedding that I captured was in 2008 when I was still in college in Boston. When I graduated college, I moved back home to NY and looked for work as a photographer's assistant so I could learn the tricks of the trade from a pro. Flash forward several years later and I had hundreds of weddings worth of experience and lots of incredible mentors who taugh me so much.

After working for several wedding studios all over Long Island, I started my own business in 2017 so that I can better connect with my couples.

And that's where I am now! I run my business out of my house in Medford, my pup by my side as I edit, and I couldn't be more thankful to be living the dream.

The Wedding Industry

My major in college was Media Arts with a concentration in film and I quickly discovered that most of my classmates wanted to move out to LA and become the next Quentin Tarantino. Don't get me wrong, I'm so proud of my college classmates who have made amazing movies with A-list celebrities (there was that one time my college classmates made a teeny tiny film called "Everything Everywhere All At Once") but I feel much more in my element working as a craftsman, capturing meaningful memories with my teammates right here in Long Island.

Why do I work in the Long Island wedding industry instead of moving out to Hollywood? The memories that we capture at weddings have so much meaning.

My wedding photos have so much meaning to me and I hope that I can capture something that means a lot to you too!

The Wedding Memories

I honestly can't think of one specific memory to call my favorite. I know, that's such a cop out answer. But then again, the wedding moments that I hang onto are the times when I see reflections of my own life or my family in everyone else's wedding:

If there's a photo to be taken with the pup, I think of how important my wedding photos with my dog are to me.

If there's a family member who has no absolutely no filter and says the brutal (but honest) truth at the funniest/worst possible moment, I think of my mom.

If there's a memory table to bring attention to those who have passed on, I think of my grandmother and how she never got to meet my husband. She would have loved him so much.

If there's a cute flower girl or ring bearer, I think of my amazing nephew. I love him with all my heart and I'm so glad I get to return him to my sister at the end of the day.

Specialization

I specialize in creating timelines and setting expectations for realistic results. I always wear a watch and I always create a custom itenerary for each wedding. This is how I ensure that we capture all the important moments that are a priority.

But I also specalize in going with the flow. I'm a wedding professional and I will also provide reccomendations from what my years of experience tell me that are important moments. But if you don't want those moments -- or if you want something totally out of left field that I wouldn't think of -- that's totally cool! Just let me know. I'm here to capture your wedding day, not mine.

Company History

I started working as an assistant at a wedding studio in 2009 when I was fresh out of college. I worked my way up the ladder from an assistant to a second videographer and second photographer. After jumping around from studio to studio, my style diversified a bit -- getting direction from lots of experienced eyes helped me to focus more on trusting my instincts and finding the light.

In December of 2016, I quit my job and then finally formed my own business on March 4, 2017. Out of all the days I could have picked to file the business paperwork, it was the symbolically meaningful "march fourth" date that became KP Media's birthday.

But I can't work at weddings alone -- I need the help of my team! After having worked in this field for over a decade, I knew exactly who I wanted to help me out -- all my coworkers that I had worked with through the years. These people are superheroes. Aside from the fact that they're able to put up with me for 12 hour days, they're incredibly talented, they're funny, they're creative, and they treat my business like it's theirs.

KP Media has been going strong since 2017. I never in a million years would have guessed that I'd become a small business owner, but somehow this business has endured for more than 7 years and we even survived a pandemic!

FAQs

Q: Is this your main job?

A: Yes! While many of my teammates have other 9-5 jobs, I am lucky enough to do this full time!

Q: Have you worked at my wedding venue before?

A: Probably! I've been working all over Long Island for a looooooong time and I've worked at nearly every catering hall and religious institution.

Q: Can you show off photography samples?

A: Check out the website or feel free to email me and ask for a sample from your venue.

Q: What if you've never been to the location for my wedding?

A: Regardless of anything else, my job is to find the light. Familiar or not, I know how to locate the spots to make you, your bridal party, and your family photos look amazing all based on the light.

Q: What if the light isn't good on the wedding day?

A: I bring lighting eqipment and make it look good!

Q: What happens if it rains on my wedding day?

A: We come up with rain plans so that we're always setting ourselves up for success.

Q: I'm not used to having my picture taken. What do I do with my hands? How can you make this less awkward?

A: Usually we don't get hired by professional models (Although a few times some brides or grooms have told me they've done modeling work in the past!) If you are not used to having your picture taken by a professional photographer then I reccomend an engagement shoot -- let's get some practice time in! Funny enough, we decided to include an engagement shoot in our most popular photography packages just for this reason.

Q: Can I bring my dog on my engagement shoot?

A: I would love to meet your dog more than anything else in the world!

Q: Do I need one photographer or two photographers for my wedding?

A: This one can get us into a deeper discussion about wedding day budgeting and priorities -- I love getting to work with my teammates but I'm happy to be hired to work solo if that's going to work better for your wedding. Let's set up a chat to discuss the pros and cons of one versus two photographers.

Q: Do you do video too?

A: Yes, we do! Check out the video page on our website to learn more about our videography services!

Q: Do you make albums?

A: Yes, you can find info on albums, prints, thank you cards, and save the date cards right here on our website.

Q: What's this about the photo booth?

A: Our brand new open-air photo booth is the one and only photo booth designed by a professional photographer.

Personal Hobbies

When I'm not out capturing a wedding, I'm at home editing a wedding 😂

But in the few moments of my day when I'm not consumed with weddings? I'm playing guitar or looking deeply into my dog's eyes.

If you are able to do a Zoom meeting with me, you'll see my office has more than 15 guitars surrounding me. I love being in my creative space.

My dog is very, very old. But I love her more than anything.

Oh, and my husband Robby is pretty okay too.

Additional Info

None of these questions have asked if I'm goofy. But I am pretty goofy. So there's that.

The star of the day was our photographer and videographer team, KP Media. We had Ken and Dave as our photographers, and Laura as our videographer. All 3 were AMAZING. I cannot recommend them enough. They are nice, talented, and I got everything back within a month of the event. Working with them throughout the day was so fun, and they really captured everything we could have wanted.

I’ve seen many posts about whether a videographer is necessary. I was one of those people who almost decided against it. But we recently got married on July 5 and already have three kids. When realizing that I’d never have a video of my kids dancing at my wedding, I decided I needed to book someone. I came across Ken with KPMedia after searching this group. I booked Ken only 5 months before my wedding. He was beyond kind, friendly, and accommodating to work within my budget. I spoke with several videographers, but something about his easy-going personality sold me quickly.
We originally purchased the package for 10 hour video and a 1 hour. But after the wedding, I reached out to purchase a 5 minute recap. Ken had it all done within 2 weeks. We watched yesterday and I realized he captured things that didn’t get to see and don’t even remember seeing the day of. I am soooo happy to have booked him. If you’re debating, book video! It’s so worth it.

I can’t say enough about Ken and his team. We consider him a friend after this process. He planned our timeline of our day for us from the first meeting, which made it so easy to book and plan with other vendors. As soon as he was with me the day of the wedding, I was so relaxed. I knew he would take over and have us on schedule. He even had to put boutonnieres on all my groomsmen. He stayed all day and night and we never felt like we were too rushed to get pictures or sick of taking pictures. We got everything we could have wanted and still enjoyed our cocktail hour. The pictures are beautiful and we got previews 2 days later

Ken & his team were fantastic! His team was absolutely fantastic, listened to everything we asked, and worked with us to make the day run smoothly and they felt like we’d known them forever! I was nervous because I’m not really a picture person but Ken & his team were able to make it feel easy!

Ken is a sweetheart! He has been such a pleasure to work with, leading up to the wedding day and day-of. We did our video engagement shoot with him in May 2021, which was a nice way to get used to being filmed and working with him. Staging filmed actions can be a bit awkward, and Ken made it easier to do by being lighthearted and funny. We haven’t seen any footage yet, but I’m sure it will be amazing. I know we got some drone footage of us in front of the venue, which should be really cool! Ken is so laid back and easy to talk to.

Ken was amazing from start to finish!! He was easy to communicate with, and the videos were incredible!! We did an engagement shoot with him, as well as our wedding. The video came back to us in less time than stated on the contract and it is incredible honestly I am so happy I got a videographer. He also gave us raw footage as well. He is funny and charismatic I would 110% recommend Ken for any videography needs!!

Ken and his team (who are actual superheroes) were incredible. We had engagement photos, 12 hours of full photography and videography for our wedding day, a full-length video, a 5-minute recap & 8x10 album included in our package (among some other things). Ken and his team were attentive and listened to every must-have photo we needed. We have already received digital files of all photos, wedding album proofs, and all finished videos. 15/10 recommendation to use them- they are also the sweetest people you will ever meet. He has been part of each of my sister’s weddings as well!
