Hello Brides of Long Island, and congratulations on your engagement! I’m Anthony Gelo of GTP DJ Entertainment, a boutique DJ and entertainment company. I will personally walk you through the exciting process of selecting the music for your wedding, from beginning to end. My motto is “when the music matters.” Sure, we can add all the bells and whistles like uplighting and monograms, but the most important thing to me is that the music fits your vibe. By taking into account your personal musical tastes and your guest demographics, we’ll curate the playlists and genres to fit the kind of party you want to have. There are no cookie cutter approaches to your music – I use my expertise and resources to put everything together into a completely customized and personalized musical experience.

I’m drawn to weddings because of how unique they are. There’s something incredibly rewarding about putting together music that fits two people’s personalities and tastes, working on an event from start to finish, and creating a memorable experience that represents a couple’s story.

It’s hard to pick a favorite wedding because they’re all so distinctive. From international weddings in India to my own cousin’s wedding closer to home, I’ve loved them all for different reasons. However, I will always remember something special that I helped organize for recent clients. At a recent wedding the show Schitt’s Creek was very meaningful to the couple.  One of the grooms wanted to surprise his fiancé by recreating the famous “Simply the Best” scene at their reception. So we sat down together and came up with the idea to do a stroll line, and at the end of the line we pulled out a chair and sat his fiancé down. That was an amazing moment to create.

My specialization is YOUR music. That might sound obvious coming from a DJ, but what I mean by that statement is that I find the perfect places for the songs you want to hear – even if you don’t think they’ll fit on a “conventional” wedding set list. I’ve worked with a lot of brides and grooms that say, “I love this song, but I can’t do it for my wedding.” And I’ll always respond “yes we can, we just have to find the right spot for it.” I’m an open format DJ, and I have a lot of experience in a lot of different genres. Most of today’s couples listen to a little bit of everything, and I love matching your favorite songs with the moments where they belong. Of course I’ll play the fan favorites if you’d like them, but you’ll never get a generic playlist from me.

I began my career in the nightlife industry, and also have years of experience in weddings, private parties, corporate functions and school events. GTP has had an ongoing relationship with St. John’s University for many years. But even though I’ve been doing this for a while, I’m still constantly evolving and learning. I love attending conferences, networking, and refining my skills.

Q: Do you work all weddings on your own? What happens if you’re booked on my date/get sick/have a last-minute emergency? A: I work the vast majority of weddings myself – about 90% of the time, you will see me there! In the event that I’m booked on your date, I have a trusted network of vetted DJs that will make sure everything runs smoothly. I always have back-up plans in place, so even if something unexpected comes up for me, your wedding will have a passionate and professional DJ at the helm. Q: Do you have insurance? A: Yes! I’m fully insured.
